kmage! is a unique word guessing game that challenges your creativity, vocabulary, and powers of observation.
...or warm up with some
Simply study the illustration, then guess a descriptive caption where every word begins with the same letter. Go for the max score with perfect spelling and word sequencing, or solve the caption at your own pace using your wits (and maybe some hints). Think you have a better caption? Submit it! Share your results with friends, then check out your favorite images and captions on our wearable merchandise!

kmage! is easy to learn and challenging to ace. Play a few beginner puzzles and you'll catch on. If you want to learn more about the nuances of the game, jump to one of the following sections:

Our mission is to sell stuff emblazoned with our fun graphics, but first, we want to share the fun with our free game! Get yourself acquainted with our bizarre and friendly menagerie. They work hard for us, and we sometimes give them a break by creating light and breezy puzzles. But sometimes we like to lay down a more formidable challenge. When we do, you might encounter one (or a combination) of the following inspirations for our games:

We try to reinforce the retention of new words and ideas through provocative illustrations. Connections made through visual references are often easier to commit to memory, and unusual imagery is a great way to support persistence.

So, play our game, wear our garments, and carry our accessories! The mental exercises they offer are great for young and old alike—and come wrapped up in alliterative fun!
Tips for Playing: <back to top>

-
All words in the caption are alphabetically alliterative, even those separated by hyphens. No words are repeated within a caption.
-
This game requires that you always submit whole and complete words. Do not submit individual letters or parts of words. Enter your guess only after you have typed one or more complete words and have double-checked your spelling.
-
During game play, tapping the hint illustration will toggle display of an enlarged graphic. Pinch zooming on your device is a handy way to study the illustration in detail and works in both initial and enlarged settings. Game play is suspended while the illustration is enlarged.
-
Get started by submitting a word describing something obvious in the illustration. Note: on the most challenging puzzles, “obvious” image details are not always included in the caption.
-
A score of 100 is reserved for a game-winning first guess that contains all correct words flawlessly spelled and in the correct sequence, so scores above 70 are impressive and any winning round is an accomplishment.

The Deeper Dive: <back to top>

-
There is some acceptance of minor misspellings. This is based on the degree of the misspelling and the length of the word. These guesses, if accepted, do not incur a point penalty except if included in the first attempt (first guess must be flawlessly spelled for the maximum 100 point score).
-
Words in the caption with diacritical marks (e.g., açai, jalapeño, frappé, façade, rôle, fiancé, zoölogy) may be correctly guessed using standard letters with no misspelling point deduction.
-
Details about scoring can be found by clicking the '?' at the end of a winning game next to your final score.
-
After the first guess there is no further point deduction, regardless of the number of attempts, unless incorrect (missed) words are submitted or clues are used.
-
The 1st letter clue is automatically activated after the first correct word guess (as the caption is alliterative). There is no actual point deduction for this clue.
-
The 2nd letter clue incurs the steepest point penalty (-10) and can be skipped in favor of other clues.
-
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd letter clues reveal letters only in those respective positions; the same letters can still exist either hidden or revealed elsewhere within the caption.
-
The Random clue reveals every instance of a random letter within the still concealed parts of the caption.
-
Use of letter clues (other than 1st letter) will deduct from your final score, so they are optional. As the clues appear, they can be used or ignored in any order.
-
The 4th clue, Keys, is available only after all other clues are expended. It may be reused continuously until the puzzle is won or lost. Keys isolates all letters in incomplete words, not just the blanks. As always, you must then type and submit a whole and complete word or words.
-
A clue cannot itself end a game, so clues will be suppressed at times.
-
The game is designed with many optional tools to help achieve a win (letter clues, lax spelling, dimmed keyboard, Play Again). We encourage players to suss out the solution and experience a winning round rather than giving up and having the solution revealed.
